This is the first newsletter for the 2008 event which will be held on 15 June 2008. After two successful editions we look forward to an even bigger and better event in 2008.
Go Adventure Asia appointed organizer

Go Adventure Asia (GAA) has again been appointed to organize the event. The Bangkok based firm is a professional event organizer with a focus on running and multi sport events. GAA has a track record of organizing international standard sporting events in Thailand and Asia. GAA has organized the Laguna Phuket International Marathon for the last two years and also manages the Laguna Phuket Triathlon, Asia’s leading destination triathlon which was successfully staged for the fourteenth time earlier this month. |
Registration open
Online registration is now open. Online registration partner Thailandmarathon offers Online Registration for the various race distances. The early bird period has started on 1 October 2007 and will end on 31 March 2008. A list of confirmed entries will be published on the website from January 2008 and updated weekly. |

Pacemakers sought
The Laguna Phuket International Marathon in cooperation with Asia Runner magazine is seeking interested runners to be a pacemaker for the marathon. A pacemaker should be an experienced runner who is able to keep a steady pace and guide other runners to a predetermined finish time. We are currently looking for pacemakers for target finish times of 3:30 h, 4:00 h, 4:15 h, 4:30 h, 4:45 h, 5:00 h, 5:15 h, 5:30 h.
Pacemakers will receive a complementary race entry, a complementary ticket to the pasta party and farewell party, an Asia Runner t-shirt and a one year magazine subscription. Please contact us if you are interested in being a pacemaker.
Hajime Nishi to lead “Slow is Beautiful” group in next year’s marathon
Japanese eco marathoner and slow running advocate Hajime Nishi
has agreed to share his “Slow is beautiful” running philosophy with
other runners at next year’s Laguna Phuket International Marathon.
The Japanese marathon globetrotter who has run more than 500
marathons and has a target of finishing 1,000 marathons by the year
2050 will guide interested runners over the 42.195 kilometer course.
The focus of his participation will be purely on the enjoyment of the |

| race, interaction with spectators and volunteers and of course
taking photos along the way without the pressure of achieving a
certain finish time. On the eve of the marathon Hajime will deliver
a talk on his mission and brief participants on what to expect on
race day. Be sure not to miss the opportunity to meet this
exceptional and fascinating runner. |

3rd Laguna Phuket International Marathon™
announced for 15 June 2008

The 3rd Laguna Phuket International Marathon™ will take place on 15 June 2008. After the huge success of the 2007 event with well over 3,000 participants, organizers expect more than 4,500 participants including 2,000 international runners from more than 45 countries.
Online registration will open on 1 October 2007 and close on 2 June 2008. Early bird entry fees will apply until 31 March 2008. Accommodation packages will also be available for booking.
